Planning / Baltimore Food Policy Initiative

The Baltimore Food Policy Initiative (BFPI) is an inter-governmental collaboration with the Department of Planning, Baltimore Office of Sustainability, Baltimore Development Corporation and the Baltimore City Health Department.

The goal of BFPI is to increase access to healthy and affordable foods in Baltimore City food deserts. BFPI is doing this through a holistic and comprehensive food systems approach.

As President of the US Conference of Mayors (USCM), Mayor Rawlings-Blake has prioritized food issues and helped other mayors and cities shape their food policy agendas. At the most recent bipartisan meeting of USCM, Mayor Rawlings-Blake presented on the City’s food access work. The presentation and shared documents can be found below:
