BALTIMORE, MD. (MAY 22, 2013) – Today, Chief James Clack announced the appointment of Ian T. Brennan as Public Information Officer for the Baltimore City Fire Department. Brennan, who serves as the Press Secretary for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, has worked for Baltimore City since 2006. He replaces Kevin Cartwright, who retired this year.
“I am excited that Mr. Brennan is joining our team,” said Chief Clack. “His public communications experience will be an asset as we work to further reduce fire deaths and improve public safety throughout Baltimore.”
Before working in Baltimore, Brennan served in the administrations of three New Jersey Governors, James E. McGreevey, Richard J. Codey and John S. Corzine. He oversaw the redesign and managed content of the State of New Jersey’s home page, implemented strategies for improved visibility of the Governor’s Office on the internet, and increased public access to state government with convenient web-based communication. He began his career in public service in the Office of Maryland Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.
“It is an honor to join Chief Clack and his team as they work to make Baltimore a safer city,” said Brennan. “This is also a great opportunity to advance Mayor Rawlings-Blake’s vision of growing the city by 10,000 families within the decade.”
Brennan is a graduate of St. Johns College, Annapolis. He lives in Baltimore with his wife and two children.
